Ashridge Wilt in the April Sun

U14s: Laurel Park Tornadoes 5 Ashridge Park 2

A good first half from the boys in blue as they establish a 2-1 lead with goals from Jack Clayton and Dan Baker. A fluke equaliser right at the outset of the second half proves to be a key moment, as Ashridge struggle to keep going on a hot and sunny April morning. Laurel Park strike twice more with unchallenged headers from corners, before capping their performance with a quality strike late on. Reg Ryan is denied by the woodwork twice, but Ashridge are well-beaten in the final analysis.

Rotherfield Romp

U14s: Rotherfield Utd Colts 4 Ashridge Park 0

Rotherfield take full advantage of an Ashridge side missing most of its usual left-side in a midweek evening catch-up game. Three first half goals have the visitors reeling, and more damage could have been done. A much improved second-half performance follows, and the blues could count themselves unlucky not to register at least once as Antonio Baciu finishes off a fine move with a well-directed header only to be denied by the linesman's flag, whilst Reg Ryan hits the crossbar. In-between, Rotherfield add insult to injury by nicking a fourth on the break.

Park Hold On To Claim Win

U14s: Ashridge Park 2 Laurel Park Tornadoes 1

A match with a bit of a post-Easter feel sees both sides labouring a little on a heavy pitch and in the unfamiliar sunshine. Despite conceding the lion's share of possession, Ashridge create the better chances and open up a 2-0 lead just into the second half, before Laurel Park strike back, first having a goal ruled out for offside before pulling one back with a long-range strike. The home team weather some late pressure to come away with the three points. Reg Ryan and Bertie Wilson with the Ashridge goals.

10-Man Park Find Late Winner

U14s: Ashridge Park 2 Spencers Wood Hurricanes 1

Ashridge overcome a blizzard and an availability crisis to claim a key win against second-placed Spencers Wood. Despite having only ten on the field, and with key central midfield and forward players missing, the boys put on a gutsy, resilient display in arctic conditions. Reg Ryan struck from long range in the first half, and although a valiant defence was breached early in the second, Ashridge got back on top in the closing stages, with Reg Ryan rounding the keeper for his second six minutes from time.

Westwood Capitalise as Fatigue Sets In

U14s: Ashridge Park 1 Westwood Wanderers Hoops 2

Our first game since January 13th sees the boys relinquish a half-time lead as a lack of match-time takes its toll on a sticky surface. Reg Ryan put Ashridge ahead ten minutes before the interval, but other chances go begging before Westwood are gifted an equalizer early in the second period. The visitors claimed a deserved victory with a well-worked second mid-way through the half.

Winning Start to 2018

U14s: Ashridge Park 5 Berks County Jaguars 2

A classic game of two halves saw Ashridge ease into a 3-0 half-time lead, only to switch off in the second period and allow Berks County to take control and reduce the arrears to a single goal. Fortunately the home side woke up in the last ten minutes, with two more goals securing the points against what has been a bogey team for us. Reg Ryan and Jack Clayton each bagged two goals with Dan Baker getting the other.

Baker Brilliance Fells Wood

U14s: Spencers Wood Hurricanes 2 Ashridge Park 4

A fine Ashridge display full of intricate passing movements and dynamic attacking play is capped by a brilliant solo goal from Dan Baker as Ashridge run out winners in the clash between 2nd and 3rd in Division 5. Dan had earlier put Ashridge in front, and his fine second came between another brace from top-scorer Reg Ryan as the visitors eased into a 4-0 lead. A late wobble took some of the shine from the performance, but overall it was also a fine defensive display against a free-scoring side, with James Riley outstanding once more.

Defences on Top

U14s: Ashridge Park 1 Rotherfield Utd Colts 1

Another well-contested game between these two evenly matched sides ends all square as the respective back lines find the measure of the forwards, and restrict clear-cut chances to just a few at each end. Rotherfield took the lead mid-way through the second half, but Dan Baker quickly struck back for the home side. Both teams had opportunities to win it in the latter stages, but the draw was a fair result.
