Gotta pick a pocket or two

If ever a football cliche was well placed it was this match.

Truly a game of two halves. First half we were asleep, sloppy, not really there. Only the keeper kept us in the match, like a cat with sticky hands he was all over hos goal saving, parrying, deflecting. A valiant effort keeping a clean sheet beyond all reason until the last gasp of the first half when we conceded one just before the whistle.

The second half started much teh same with a seconded going in early on.

Then we woke up, a what a performance.

We played as a team, peotic passing, width, attacking play, solid defending, end to end. At last a fantastic match to watch with two well balanced teams. Then we get one back, the opposition now on edge. 1-2 held for a while, a game of chess. Until we equalised. BAM. Now teh game is properly on a knife edge, both teams playing their hearts out until we get a free kick near the end. And like a young Gareth Bale our man hits it sweetly, lifts the ball over teh wall and bends it into the top left corner. Nothing, and no one was stopping it. 3-2 we nose ahead. The dying minutes are a blur, i can't remember, too tense. A somewhat shaky bus is parked, we push forward, are driven back...

In the end we hold out for the win. From desperation to jubilation all over 60 minutes of frustrating and elating play.

Well played boys. A great result.

the early morning long distance away

Our longest distance away match, and a 9am... Joy.

A game we struggled to get on top of, we played well, the opposition, at home, played better.

A 4-2 loss. Nop shame whatsoever, and our boys played a good game, just not our day.

A Maccy D's on the way back just before you hit the M3 home.

The 2019-20 season kicks off in style

The new season opened on a home match in the glorious sunshine at the Theatre of Dreams, St Crispin's.

We played Sandhurst as fixcture #1 in our newly promoted too league B with our first competitive 2 half hour halves format.

The sun was shining on a very tight and competitive match, The boys played really well adapting the new format well. At times it was end to end, at others we were pressed hard into oiur own half and box for spells, at other times the opposite was true as we pressed. There was some lovley flowing football, great passes and some excellent saves too. The game ended as a 2-1 home victory. Goal one being a deflection from a shot by Owen, our second from an in form Isaac. We conceded one to them but held the lead to the final whistle.

A great opening and all 3 Ashridge U12 teams scored a victory on day one - long may the good times last.
