If ever a football cliche was well placed it was this match.
Truly a game of two halves. First half we were asleep, sloppy, not really there. Only the keeper kept us in the match, like a cat with sticky hands he was all over hos goal saving, parrying, deflecting. A valiant effort keeping a clean sheet beyond all reason until the last gasp of the first half when we conceded one just before the whistle.
The second half started much teh same with a seconded going in early on.
Then we woke up, a what a performance.
We played as a team, peotic passing, width, attacking play, solid defending, end to end. At last a fantastic match to watch with two well balanced teams. Then we get one back, the opposition now on edge. 1-2 held for a while, a game of chess. Until we equalised. BAM. Now teh game is properly on a knife edge, both teams playing their hearts out until we get a free kick near the end. And like a young Gareth Bale our man hits it sweetly, lifts the ball over teh wall and bends it into the top left corner. Nothing, and no one was stopping it. 3-2 we nose ahead. The dying minutes are a blur, i can't remember, too tense. A somewhat shaky bus is parked, we push forward, are driven back...
In the end we hold out for the win. From desperation to jubilation all over 60 minutes of frustrating and elating play.
Well played boys. A great result.
