Ashridge Aced

U16s: Ashridge Park 0 Arborfield Aces 6

Not a good day for Ashridge as an off-colour performance is emphatically punished by Arborfield. Most of the damage came late in the game with three of the goals coming in the last five minutes as the side became increasingly ragged. At the other end, half-chances were created, but finishing was below par.

New Year's Resolve

U16s: STB&G FC Royals 0 Ashridge Park 1

Ashridge start 2020 by registering their first three-point haul of the season, and in the process lift themselves off the foot of the table. A single strike from Jack Gillingham just after the half-hour make settles matters as the Ashridge defence stands firm to notch up their second successive clean sheet. Ashridge create the better opportunities throughout the game, but lack the clinical finish required to pull off a more emphatic win. Jamie Cole claims the star player award as the most influential figure in the middle of the park.

Plucky Point for Patched-Up Park

U16s: Laurel Park Tornadoes 0 Ashridge Park 0

An Ashridge side with just the bare eleven available, three of the back four missing, and two of those on the field also under the weather, nonetheless dig in and come away with a draw for only their second point of the season. A game of few clear-cut chances; James Roberts getting the nod for star player for a typically whole-hearted performance in the centre of defence.

Windsor Strike Late

U16s: Ashridge Park 1 Windsor Youth Harriers Gladiators 3

Two goals in the last ten minutes see Windsor overcome some stubborn Ashridge resistance to claim the three points. After Windsor take a fifth minute lead, star player Joe Savory keeps Ashridge in the game with a string of fine saves. Ashridge carve out a few chances of their own, and Felix Galla-Taylor fires home an equaliser nine minutes into the second half, but Windsor's late brace leaves Ashridge beaten once more. Nonetheless an improved performance, and something to build on for the next game.

Spitfires Blitz Ashridge

U16s: Curley Park Rangers Spitfires 6 Ashridge Park 0

A good Curley Park side run riot in the early stages, racking up a five-goal advantage by half-time. Ashridge dig in for the second period and, despite remaining under significant pressure, almost make it through without further damage, conceding the sixth goal just four minutes from the end. Some improved passages of play from the visitors after the break, but very little in the way of goal threat.

Cup Hopes Washed Away

U16s: Hurst Twyford Hurricanes 4 Ashridge Park 0

A more competitive game than the scoreline suggests as Ashridge have the better of things for much of the first half, and are unfortunate to be a goal down at the break. A second arrives in the opening minute of the second period, effectively killing the contest, and as conditions deteriorate the game becomes increasingly scrappy. Hurst up their game, and grab two more with rapid counters in the middle of the half to put a bit of a gloss on the scoreline as Ashridge woes in front of goal continue. Felix Galla-Taylor takes star player, creating the best of Ashridge's opportunities.

Camberley Hold On

U16s: Camberley Town Youth Renegades 2 Ashridge Park 1

A game played in miserable conditions, with teeming rain and strong gusting winds, sees Camberley grab a narrow but vital win in this foot-of-the-table clash. The home side capitalise on the wind at their backs in the first half to take an early lead, but Ashridge defend well and keep the deficit to one at the break. As conditions improved, a more even second half sees Camberley extend their lead before Jack Clayton strikes for Ashridge. James Riley takes star player for keeping Ashridge moving forward from the back, and some accomplished defensive work.

Rotherfield Grind Out Result

U16s: Rotherfield Utd Colts 2 Ashridge Park 0

A whole-hearted effort by the Ashridge boys on a heavy pitch and with no substitutes available for the third league game in a row. The home team had plenty of the ball, but breached the Ashridge defences only once in each half. Felix Galla-Taylor was the brightest spark in a very hard-working midfield, sending in two great crosses which could have brought Ashridge goals, as well as doing his share of the defensive duties, and duly takes the star player award.
