Our last game of the season played under floodlights at Ascot.
A great performance by the team enabled us to get a draw against the team that would win the League 4 days later.
Ascot were on top in the early stages and had 2 golden chances to score but Sam saved both of them. We came back into the game and for a period of 20 minutes we were on top. We opened the scoring which that rarity a goal from corner, and even rarer a headed goal. Jamie met Tommy’s corner and headed home. We scored a second at the start of the second half when Jordan’s first time strike from 30 yards flew into the top corner.
The last 30 minutes were all Ascot, we defended well but when the ball was played out of defence we failed to hold onto it and back came the home side. They scored from a penalty then equalised with 5 minutes left. They had 2 goals disallowed one for a clear offside and the other from the ball going over the goal line before being crossed again a clear decision.
So we held on for a deserved draw. Thanks again to all the players for a fantastic effort.
We finished 4th from bottom but we scored the 4th highest number of goals and conceded the 4th lowest number of goals. We had the highest number of draws (5) all matches we could have won but also most played with only 11 players or less. (it was amusing to read another teams report where the fact that they only had 3 subs for a match was a negative!!)
Lets hope we can carry on for the last lap next season, it would be a shame especially for Neil as he has led the team from U7.
Thanks again to Neil, all the players and our faithful, amusing and anedotal supporters.
