Enjoyable Friendly Encounter: Woodley Saints U17 2 Ashridge Park Royals U18 8
We travelled to Berkshire Sports Club in the driving rain for a friendly encouter with high-flying Division 5 outfit, Woodley Saints.
The home team seized the initiative from the start forcing Sam to come charging off his line in the first minute to nullify a threatening Woodley attack. He also made a neat save on 12 minutes. However it was Ashridge who made the breakthrough with Freeman's header converting Ted's corner on 15 minutes. The arrival of Ben and Alex on 23 minutes assited Ashridge with the 2 players scoring 4 goals between them by half time (assists from Adam twice, Freeman and Ben). 5-0 at half time.
The game continued to be played in a good spirit with Freeman scoring 2 more goals (one a Peter assist), and Sid rounding off proceeedings after an assist from George.
In between times, the home team pulled 2 goals back, including the 100th career goal for one of their long-serving players.
Overall a very useful exercise between the 2 team played in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We hope to be able to invite our opponents for a return match later in the season.
